On Friday we learned that slavery still exists in the modern world. We also learned that we unknowingly contribute to this process through some of the goods that we buy on a regular. For this assignment you will be creating a PSA (public service announcement) to bring awareness to modern day slavery. You can create this in either Garageband and iMovie. Goal: To explain modern slavery. Role: Activist to educate and inform the public. Audience: High School Consumers. Scenario: How do I reduce my slave footprint. Product: A video with narration. Grading: Synthesize actions from past events to predict future possibilities. (H.1.2)

In order for you to be able to defend one of these you need to know the positives and negatives of them. Divide the readings among your group. Each person needs to read one of the two on your own and take notes using the following format: Solution - What does it look like (basic definition) - Positives (pros) - Negatives (cons) - Share the notes with your group. Block, Dec 5-6: Watch Heart of Jenin Go to the kidblog for your class. I have a post titled “Heart of Jenin Discussion” on their kidblog, have them post comments while they watch the video. Comments can be anything appropriate. Questions about what is happening, reactions to what they see, or even answers to the questions of others. Feel free to comment on each other's responses. When the video is finished use the rest of the time to finish your notes over the solutions.

Friday (11/30) Five photo story: (Example of a 5 photo story about Snow White) For this assignment work the person/people you took notes with on Tuesday (11/27). If you only worked with a partner you may combine with another group of 2 to create a group of 4. You need to take five pictures that show the history of the conflict. You may start your story at any point but need to end with today. Each person in the group should post all five pictures on his or her kidblog. Directions for including photos in your kid blog. After watching the videos about Syria determine how each of the four futures would suggest we should solve the problem. Explain which of the four options do you think is best.
